HOW IT WORKS

From a site to a useful conversation.

Vantage Lite helps companies screen physical climate risks for Malaysian sites. It connects scenario data to operational questions about heat, heavy rain and water supply.

Your company workflow

  1. Contact JRC. JRC sets up your company and invites its administrator.
  2. Sign in with your work email. Enter the one-time code sent to your invited email address.
  3. Add a site. Search an address or place a pin. Confirm the building or work area.
  4. Explore what could change. Use the climate map for physical risks and Business changes for transition risks.
  5. Save and share with your team. Reports keep a dated snapshot of your inputs and results.

Each company has one administrator and up to five teammates. The administrator manages invitations. Team members can work on the company’s sites and reviews. They cannot open another company’s records. Existing consultant portfolios remain separate.

Climate data and time periods

Climate indicators use Vantage’s July 2026 release of World Bank CCKP CMIP6 multi-model data, at 0.25° resolution (approximately 25 km), cropped to Malaysia. The historical reference is 1995–2014. Future source windows are 2020–2039, 2040–2059, 2060–2079 and 2080–2099.

Annual values are interpolated between nominal source midpoints, then averaged over the selected planning period. Default periods are 2026–2030, 2031–2040 and 2041–2050. You can extend the long term to 2090. These are planning approximations, not site-scale weather forecasts. Model ranges show ensemble spread, not the probability of a financial loss.

Water scarcity

WRI Aqueduct 4.0 measures pressure on a basin’s water resources. It does not predict how many days a utility will cut water to a building. The SSP2-4.5 water view uses the SSP3-7.0 proxy and is labelled accordingly. Planning windows spanning multiple water epochs show their categories separately; categories are never averaged.

Dry-spell length is a separate climate indicator. Enter water-cut days and usable backup as your own operational scenario when estimating costs.

Business impact estimates

The activity descriptions are practical screening hypotheses. They are not claims that a client has suffered an incident. Cooling costs assume the same electricity price, equipment efficiency, occupancy and floor area. Work-time estimates depend on the share of staff exposed and the assumed work-rate reduction. Rain costs use severe-rain days and your assumed disruption rate; rainfall changes do not directly become percentages of flood damage.

Different sites, activities, scenarios and periods can change the result. Similar input data can also legitimately produce similar outcomes. Local drainage, equipment, access and supply arrangements need a site review. Crop yields, flood depths, coastal inundation, wind damage and exact event timing are outside this screening model.

What is saved and who can see it

The public explorer does not save client records. When you sign in and choose to save, company details, sites, business assumptions, observations and results are stored in your company workspace. Company records are shared with the active members of that company. The server checks company membership on every read and change. Site administrators operate the service and may access stored data for support and maintenance.

Changing a site does not change a report already saved. Archiving a client keeps its records while preventing new work until it is restored. Client data is not placed in the public site files. Signing out removes access to your workspace on that session; exported files remain wherever you saved them.

Search and map privacy

Submitting an address search sends that text to Photon, which searches OpenStreetMap. Pasted coordinates are parsed locally. Map tiles reveal the viewed area to OpenStreetMap’s tile service. Enter coordinates directly if you do not want to send an address search. No client names or notes are automatically sent to the search service.

Building-level search results do not improve the resolution of the climate grid. Confirm the pin, especially near coasts, borders or large industrial sites. Some cells may have missing data; unavailable values remain visible.

Company accounts and team access

Contact JRC to open a company account. JRC invites one administrator, who can invite five teammates. Clients sign in using a one-time code sent to their invited work email. Codes expire after ten minutes. Invitations expire after seven days. Pending invitations reserve seats. Removing a member or suspending a company ends access; saved reports remain with the company.

Business changes

The simple transition review covers energy costs, carbon costs, customer requirements, equipment changes and supplier costs. Financial examples use your own figures and stated assumptions. They are sensitivities, not forecasts. A carbon-cost example does not mean that a tax applies to your company. Customer sales exposed are not a prediction of sales or profit lost. One-off investment is kept distinct from annual costs, and possible overlaps should be checked before combining amounts.

These pathways are adapted from the main Vantage platform’s financial-effect methods. A saved review preserves the inputs, source notes, planning year and next steps used at the time. Editing creates a new version.

Transactional emails

Resend delivers invitation and sign-in emails using JRC’s verified sending domain. Email addresses and the content necessary for delivery are processed by that provider. Delivery, bounce and complaint events help JRC support account access. Open and click tracking are disabled.
